Master's degree opportunity

Fully-funded Master's of Science (MSc) on Benthic Habitat Mapping using Automated Underwater Vehicles (AUV) in Canada (September 2013)
Are you looking to complete an MSc or do you know a student that would be a good fit? We are looking for candidates for a fully-funded MSc position that will explore the use of Automated Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) in coastal waters of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. In collaboration with a team of geographers and engineers, the candidate will help designing the survey, collecting the data and will be in charge of analyzing acoustic (multibeam and sub-bottom) and ground-truthing (video and images) data collected with a state-of-the-art AUV in order to produce benthic habitat maps.

Candidates are expected to have completed an undergraduate degree in geography, earth sciences, environmental sciences or related disciplines with good standings and to be interested in working in an interdisciplinary environment. Some knowledge of benthic ecology, marine geology, statistics and GIS will be an asset. Candidates can email directly Dr. Rodolphe Devillers (rdeville@mun.ca) for further information on this position.
