Dartmouth Reef Balls

In 1998, an artificial reef was constructed off of Round Hill, Dartmouth using 72 prefabricated concrete reef balls for the purpose of enhancing recreational angling opportunities in Buzzards Bay.

Three weeks ago, using sidescan sonar and video, we mapped the locations of the reef balls and examined the current state of growth on the reef.  Drop cameras didn't work due to poor visibility, so all photos were taken by divers last week.  Permanent photo stations were established for annual monitoring.
