The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and CZM geological mapping project has completed a cruise aboard the R/V Megan Miller in Buzzards Bay this summer. We collected geophysical (swath bathymetry, sidescan sonar backscatter, and seismic reflection) data over approximately 3350 linear kilometers of survey tracklines. Full coverage of bathymetry and backscatter data encompass approximately 350 square kilometers of seafloor including 29 sq. km., in eastern Vineyard Sound. Additional geophysical and sampling surveys are planned for fall 2009 and summer 2010. For additional information, see the CZM project website, the USGS project website.
