Ocean Planning & Mapping updates

Another long gap between posts. Nobody's beating down the door, though.

The latest main event in Mass is the Ocean Planning effort. I'm on the Science Advisory Council and a couple of the six workgroups. We're on aggressive timelines to get baseline assessments of all resources in Mass waters .

Mapping is still happening: NOAA has completed most of Vineyard Sound. CZM and USGS are working together again next year to map Buzzards Bay. DMF will be part of that effort too. Right now we're still working on assembling and analyzing other Buzzards Bay datasets.

We've had MANY conversations about "habitat" mapping: what does it mean, what are we really looking, how to merge multiple datasets to get an ecologically meaningful product.
