Out to Sea

The splice kits are packed, the fiber optic toolkit is at the ready... next week we head out to sea. We're going with WHOI scientists on the F/V Kathy Marie, a scalloper from New Bedford. We're dual towing the HabCam and our Focus-2 remotely operated towed vehicle (ROTV). Mounted on the Focus is the EM3002 multibeam system, which records seafloor and water column data (it's in the center on the bottom in the little yellow case). After some testing, we're planning on meeting the R/V Albatross in two weeks; then we can compare that scallop survey to ours. Hopefully we'll get to image the Andrea Doria too.
